I was smiling as I pulled off the wrapping paper, expecting something ordinary, maybe a few books or some new clothes. But when I opened the box, I gasped. Inside was a tiny puppy, blinking up at me with sleepy eyes and a wagging tail. For a heartbeat, I couldn’t move—just stared in disbelief as joy rushed through me. The puppy let out a small whine, and I reached in, scooping up the warm bundle. He wriggled into my arms as if he already knew me. In that instant, I realize t his was more than a gift—it was love.
