Harmony Makes Small Things Grow #FMF
Responding to the Five Minute Friday prompt
Harmony makes small things grow; lack of it makes great things decay. – Sallust
For me, harmony isn’t about things being flawless, but more about that feeling when everything just clicks. On the days when my inner world feels aligned, even small routines seem to carry more meaning. Writing flows more easily. Conversations feel less strained. I see how being gentle, steady, and caring turns little things into something stronger and more helpful.
The absence of peace hits me in subtle ways at the beginning. A tightness in my body. A resistance to things I usually enjoy. Though seldom dramatic, it slowly drains my energy. When I’m not in harmony with myself or with others, I’ve observed that even good things, such as projects I’m passionate about and relationships I hold dear, can decline. As Sallust reminds us, it isn’t the size or importance of something that sustains it, but the harmony holding it together.
This is a reminder for me to slow down and pay attention. To ask where I’m forcing instead of listening, pushing instead of aligning. Perhaps growth isn’t about adding more, but about balancing things out, between resting and pushing yourself, speaking truthfully and being gentle, or knowing when to hold on and when to give up. When harmony returns, even the smallest things seem capable of growing again.

I very much related to your reflection on harmony and the reminder to slow down and pay attention.
Thanks for sharing.
so I did Tai Chi tonight which is all about moving your body slowly and with control. To in essence, be in harmony with your body and how you are breathing. It's interesting to see the overall good, fits well with the harmony overtones of this week. visiting from FMF17
